Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center of North Central Massachusetts, Inc. offers free pregnancy tests and related services to women of childbearing age, as well as to their partners and children. Referrals are made as indicated by our clients for professional counseling. Clients are referred to shelters specifically for pregnant women in crisis, or to housing authorities for assistance with affordable housing. Confidential peer counseling is offered in an objective and non-judgmental way to those who need a listening ear and assistance in decision making.

Abstinence from premarital sexual activity is recommended to single clients as the surest protection against sexually transmitted diseases and the prevention of unplanned pregnancy. The center participates in health fairs at local high schools, encouraging postponement of sexual activity until marriage and educating the students about the risks of sexually transmitted diseases.

Adoption is presented to clients as a loving choice.

Parenting classes are offered to clients who are interested. Information is given on pregnancy, labor and delivery, early childhood development and child discipline and training. Classes are open to men and women. Clients are often referred to us by the Department of Children and Families plus other agencies. This is an “earn while you learn program.” Clients are able to “purchase” new baby items from infant thermometers and diapers, to clothing and other baby care items in the Baby Boutique. Used maternity clothing, and gently used infant clothing are available to anyone in need regardless of attendance at classes.

Post Abortion Support - Care Net PRC realizes that the choice for abortion can cause emotional stress and grief. Abortion statistics show that 43% of women have had at least one abortion by age 45. We offer post abortion support through a series called P.A.C.E. (Post Abortion Care & Education) that can assist in the healing process.

Twenty-Four Hour Help Line - Care Net PRC is one of 800 Care Net centers in the USA. By dialing 800-395-HELP our clients can be helped 24/7 by trained peer counselors. During business hours local callers are directed to our phone lines.

National Affiliation – Care Net is based in Virginia. The national office provides this local site with policy and procedures recommendations and standards of care. They are readily available with legal and administrative information.

Local Information - The center is a 501(c)(3) with all services offered at no cost to the client. Care Net has been in operation in Fitchburg since 1976 and is run by a board of directors and staffed by employees and volunteers. The center is supported by local individuals and organizations and must raise its own funds. The national office does not fund local centers.

Ultrasound services - Care Net PRC is a licensed medical clinic offering limited obstetrical ultrasound services.

Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center, out of concern for the health of women and the value of all human life does not refer for abortion services. Care Net (formerly the Family Life Center), has been helping women in the Twin City area and beyond since 1976.

Also, Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center is a member of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce. We are a member in good standing of the National Institute of Family & Life Advocates (NIFLA) and we have met the Care Net Standards of Affiliation and hereby designated as an official Care Net affiliate, dedicated to providing ministry in Jesus' name to anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy.

A Link 2 Life Connection

Are you our Link 2 Life Connection? Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center (Care Net) needs one member from each Christian church in the Montachusett region to serve as a liaison between Care Net and their particular church. A Link 2 Life Connection is a person who keeps the leadership and congregation of their church informed of the ministry of Care Net. The Link 2 Life Connection person also informs the Care Net staff and Board of Directors of current events at their church. A one year commitment is all that is asked of any one person.

Keeping this ministry alive – in the minds and hearts of the people of our supporting churches --- is extremely important. We are a parachurch ministry and, as such, we serve alongside the local church. As a licensed medical clinic staffed by trained and compassionate Christian women, we are uniquely called and equipped to help people involved in a crisis pregnancy. Working together, we can make an impact of eternal significance. Let us love them back to life!

The Link 2 Life Connection person:

  • Acts as the contact person between Care Net and their own Church
  • Informs the leadership and congregation of Care Net’s ministry events
  • Ensures that information is included into church publications such as bulletins
  • Speaks to the congregation once per year on behalf of Care Net
  • Acts as referral source for persons in crisis pregnancy
  • Acts as referral source for persons needing other services provided by Care Net

Care Net specially equips and supports each Link 2 Life Connection so that they may be effective in their own church.
